The ninth edition of Rossi Fest
Four Exceptional Musical Events
As part of this year’s Rosi Fest, Belgrade will host four unique musical events from January 27 to February 1, dedicated to the history, tradition, and contemporary interpretations of European and American music.
“Portraits and Remembrance”
January 27 – Atrium of the National Museum, 8:00 PM | Duration: 50 min
This concert, marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day, presents works by women composers whose lives and creative output were shaped by wartime experience—Ilse Weber, Julija Weissberg, Else Beren, Henriëtte Bosmans, and Rosi Wertheim. The program functions simultaneously as an artistic and research endeavor, reconstructing works preserved only in fragments and reintegrating them into contemporary concert life.
An Evening of Sacred Music
January 29 – Sukat Shalom Synagogue, 7:00 PM | Duration: 60 min
The centenary of the Sukat Shalom Synagogue is commemorated through performances by the “Braća Baruh” Choir, the oldest active Jewish choir in the world, accompanied by organ and soloists. The program highlights the role of sacred music in preserving cultural identity and continuity, combining liturgical tradition with artistic performance.
Concert Echoes of Polyphony
“Corvina Consort” Ensemble
January 31 – Atrium of the National Museum, 8:00 PM | Duration: 50 min
Led by Zoltán Kálmánovits, the ensemble presents vocal music from the Middle Ages to the early Baroque. The program includes works by Orlando di Lasso, Philippe de Monte, Heinrich Isaac, and Salomone Rossi, interpreted through historically informed performance practice and contemporary musicological research.
Festival Closing: Menotti’s The Telephone
February 1 – National Theatre, 8:30 PM | Duration: 60 min
The comic one-act opera The Telephone by Gian Carlo Menotti, enriched with an overture combining arrangements of American jazz standards and works by composers of Jewish origin from the 1950s. The performance unites humor, urban aesthetics, and the musical tradition of American jazz, offering a distinctive evening to conclude the festival.
Rosi Fest 2026 reaffirms its commitment to artistic excellence, musicological reflection, and an interdisciplinary approach to music, offering audiences a rich overview of historical and contemporary musical creativity.
